The maximum oil production in Albania was realized in 1974 with 2,250,000 tons of oil / year (or 6165 tons of oil / day equal to 38,408 barrels / day). The amount of gas, the highest values, had in 1982 with 940,000,000 Nm3 gas / year (or 2 575 342 Nm3 gas / day).
In those years more than 25,000 people worked in the oil industry. About 2,800 gold and medium specialists worked in 34 companies.
By the end of 2013, 3 oil wells in sandstones and 9 oil wells in limestone were discovered and put into operation. Also during this period, 4 natural gas sources were discovered in the sandy layer and 1 condensate gas source in the limestone layer. Recently, the SHELL company has discovered a new source in the limestone facility and is continuing the work for the complete contouring.

At the beginning of 2017, based on the order of the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Albpetrol sh.a has recovered the Cakran-Mollaj and Gorisht-Kocul oil fields from the Transatlantic Albania company as well as the Amonica field from the Phoenix Petroleum company.
